On Juneteenth, a day commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, we are calling on people of conscience across the country to peacefully shut down their local Starbucks store in protest of Starbucks Corporation’s discriminatory treatment of Joel Gabriel Johnson—a longtime customer, shareholder, and civil rights advocate—at a Tacoma store on April 15, 2025.
Joel was publicly humiliated, denied equal access, and falsely accused to police in an incident that highlights deeper systemic issues. We say: No Justice, No Coffee.
Starbucks has failed to live up to its commitments to racial equity. If they won’t fix it, we will raise our voices until they do.
This Juneteenth, join us in turning every Starbucks store into a site of peaceful resistance and public witness.
